Security Systems: A Necessity for Your Business

Sorry ClosedBurglars will strike anywhere. Here in Charlotte they recently chose to strike a church, taking over $4000 worth of goods.

They even took a sink.

There is literally nothing that a burglar won’t touch if they think they have the opportunity.

So if you are a small business owner, don’t assume that you can simply lock up your shop and walk away. You probably have many more thousands of dollars worth of inventory, fixtures, and equipment in your business.

And while your insurance may cover some of those losses, they can’t replace the lost revenue while you pick up the pieces of a break-in.

Crime statistics tell us that a business is four times more likely to be targeted than a home is. It makes sense, since the business target is far more lucrative than a home target ever can be.

Certainly installing an alarm system is not the only thing that you can or even should do to secure your business. Over the next few weeks we’ll be sharing other security measures that a business can take to keep burglars out.

But an alarm system – and prominently displayed alarm security signs – is an excellent start.

Once you have your alarm system you can’t rest, however. Make sure that you and all of your employees are adequately trained on the system.

You should also make sure that you don’t leave a burglar inside. It’s easy to defeat an alarm system if one never has to pass through a door or a window in the first place, especially if the burglar is savvy enough to stay out of the path of a motion detector!

That means each time you or your employees close the building you should do a thorough walk-through. Check bathrooms, storage closets, fitting rooms and any other place where an unscrupulous individual might hide.

Don’t wait. If you’re a business owner in the Charlotte, NC area call JSB Security today. We offer a free security audit of your premises that will help you keep your store, shop, restaurant or even your church secure and safe.
