Alarm Permits in Charlotte, NC

alarm-permits-charlotte-ncWhen you update your home with a monitored burglar alarm you will have to take one small step with the City of Charlotte. You will have to get an alarm permit.

You can apply for an alarm permit at this website.

Note that your alarm permit is issued to your address, not to you, personally. That means if you move and get a new alarm system then you’ll need to get a new alarm permit.

It takes about 10 days for the city to process the alarm permit. When you get the permit, call us. We need your permit number to get the police out to your home in the event of an emergency.

Permits are part of the city’s attempts to reduce false alarms which put an undue strain on the police department.

Some of our customers are very concerned about false alarms and the fines they may generate. Hopefully we can put your mind at ease about this issue.

First, false alarms rarely happen when the alarm system is installed properly and used properly. In fact, most false alarms come from human error–people inside of the home simply have trouble using the alarm. So let our technicians train your entire family on the system.

Second, once you have an alarm permit you get a three false alarm grace period every 12 months. So if you do have a false alarm you should call us so we can help you figure out what happened. Then we can help you prevent the problem in the future.

Because we’re so careful about how we install our systems and adjust our systems it’s actually very rare for our customers to have any sort of a problem with false alarms.

If you have other questions about alarm permits or false alarms, no problem! We’ll show you why these are both very small concerns when we conduct your free home security analysis. Call us to schedule your home security analysis today!
